The Birth of Islam: A Journey Through Time
The story of Islam’s birth is one of faith, resilience, and transformation. It begins in the vast deserts of Arabia, in a time when tribal conflicts, idol worship, and social injustices were deeply rooted in society. The Arabian Peninsula Before Islam
Before the emergence of Islam, the Arabian Peninsula was a land divided by tribal loyalties. The city of Mecca was a bustling center of trade, home to the sacred Kaaba, which housed hundreds of idols worshipped by different tribes. However, despite the economic prosperity, the region suffered from moral and social decay—women were treated unfairly, the poor were oppressed, and tribal conflicts were never-ending.
In this time of darkness, there were a few individuals known as Hanifs, who rejected idol worship and believed in one God, but they had no structured religion to follow. It was in this very setting that the final prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH), was born.
The Birth of the Last Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) was born in 570 CE in Mecca into the Quraysh tribe, one of the most respected tribes of the region. His father, Abdullah, had passed away before his birth, and his mother, Amina, also passed away when he was just six years old. Left orphaned at a young age, he was raised by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, and later by his uncle, Abu Talib.
From an early age, Muhammad (PBUH) was known for his truthfulness and honesty, earning the title Al-Amin (The Trustworthy) among his people. He worked as a merchant and gained a reputation for being fair and just in his dealings.
The Marriage That Brought Stability
At the age of 25, Muhammad (PBUH) was approached by Khadijah, a wealthy and noble widow, who admired his honesty. She proposed marriage, and despite being 15 years older than him, their union became one of the most beautiful and supportive relationships in history. Khadijah (RA) was not only his wife but also his pillar of strength, standing by him in the most difficult times.
They had several children, but among them, Fatimah (RA) would later play a significant role in Islamic history as the mother of Hasan (RA) and Husayn (RA).
The Search for Truth
Although Muhammad (PBUH) lived in a society full of idol worship, he never took part in it. He often retreated to the Cave of Hira, a quiet place in the mountains outside Mecca, where he would spend time in deep thought and reflection. He was searching for something greater, a higher truth beyond the material world.

It was during one of these meditative retreats, at the age of 40, that something extraordinary happened—something that would change the world forever.
The First Revelation: A Moment of Divine Connection
One night, in the darkness of the Cave of Hira, Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) appeared before Muhammad (PBUH) and delivered the first revelation:
"Read! In the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clot of blood. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, Who taught by the pen, taught man what he knew not." (Surah Al-Alaq: 1-5)
This moment marked the beginning of Islam, the final divine message to humanity. Muhammad (PBUH), overwhelmed by the experience, rushed home trembling, seeking comfort from his wife Khadijah (RA), who reassured him and became his first follower.
The Dawn of a New Era
With this first revelation, Muhammad (PBUH) stepped into his role as the last and final prophet of Allah. However, his mission was not going to be easy. The people of Mecca, especially the Quraysh leaders, saw his message as a threat to their power and traditions.

But despite the challenges, Islam began to grow—first in secret, then publicly. Those who believed in Muhammad (PBUH) faced extreme persecution, yet their faith remained unshaken.
